Sustainable Weddings In Eugene, Oregon
Sometimes a chance encounter at a wedding show can lead to incredible conversation, and two wedding professionals write an opus to couples planning their celebrations. That’s what happened when I met Lauren Allee of PNW Weddings at the Portland Bridal Show!
Fun fact about me: I have a degree from Pacific University in Sustainable Design. (Yes, I went to private university to learn about organic farming, building houses from mud, and other crunchy hippie stuff - I loved it!)
Sustainable design is beautiful - it’s about getting the most value/reward possible by reducing & reusing resources. For example, repurposing your ceremony florals so folks can continue to enjoy them during your reception? Perfection. Skipping small plastic doodads, and instead offering a higher quality beverage or photobooth for guests to savor? Excellent.
There’s a big push towards intentionality in the wedding planning process, and I love it. Instead of following a recipe, we’re crafting custom events that let the couples’ personalities shine. And that means if a couple loves the outdoors and wants to have an event that promotes their guests wellbeing and enjoyment of nature… we’re going to think a bit about sustainability while we design their big day.
